For the past (25+) years Dr. Guillette has held various positions in higher education such as Professor of Business, Department Chair, Director of Marketing and Institutional Advancement, Dean of Enrollment Management, Director of Off-Campus Programs and Corporate Education, Executive Director of Graduate & Professional Studies and Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management serving learners in their pursuit of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

He is a former high school teacher, worked in the high tech electronics defense industry, owned a small manufacturer company, served as a political consultant on a campaign for governor and the United States Senate and was the youngest man ever elected to the school committee in Brockton.

In his career he has been at Anna Maria College, Curry College, Brandeis University and Bridgewater State College working with thousands of students and helping them become successful by completing their degrees in higher education.

Dr. Guillette views education as the great equalizer of life. Having an advanced degree can open numerous doors to people that will ultimately enhance both their personal and professional lives. Evident of his service to students is the “What is a Student” document which can be found as one of the attachments which he has had with him since his high school teaching days.

His philosophy of teaching is somewhat encapsulated in a statement by Dr. Randy Pausch in his book – The Last Lecture:

“I’d compare paying college tuition to paying for a personal trainer at an athletic club. We professors play the roles of trainers, giving people access to the equipment (books, labs, and our expertise) and after that, it is our job to be demanding. We need to make sure our students are exerting themselves. We need to praise them when they deserve it and to tell them honestly when they have it in them to work harder. Most importantly, we need to let them know how to judge for themselves how they are coming along. The great thing about working out at a gym is that if you put in the effort, you get obvious results. The same should be true of college. A professor’s job is to teach students how to see their minds growing in the same way they can see their muscles grow when they look in a mirror.”

Most recently he served as the Dean of Post – Doctoral and Doctoral Enrollment Management as well as Dean of Academic Affairs and Student Services.

Dr. Guillette’s experience prior to higher education had him founding Patriot Electronics, Inc. a manufacturer firm located on Cape Cod servicing the high tech electronics defense industry. One of the major customers was McDonnell Douglas where the company built units that went into the F117 airplane. The company received a quality vendor award from McDonnell Douglas recognizing its successful quality systems management performance during the first Gulf War.

Dr. Guillette has also received various awards over the years.
