Psst…Want more fans?
Social media is changing constantly and unlocking secrets to fan engagement. While we’re all looking for the magic elixir to engage, enlighten and eek more revenues from clients here are some techniques and tools that are working exceptionally well in our industry. The magic of engagement comes when you know and understand your fans. So here are 5 tools and resources to help you reap the rewards of your social presence.
Fan Tip #1: Measuring
Social Mention. Discover the sentiment that your company or top destination generates across the social spectrum. Plus you’ll be able to see who’s talking about you and in what medium. Bonus Tip: Leverage the opportunity and join the conversations to develop brand advocates.
Fan Tip #2: Questions
Facebook Questions are an underused resource to better understand your clients. In your Share box you’ll notice a Question feature that allows you to easily poll your fans. The questions you ask appear differently on your page and will encourage fans to answer. Bonus tip: Carefully construct questions so that they beg for an answer. Quirky, fun, aspirational!
Fan Tip #3: E-blasts
E-Blasts. When sending e-blasts how closely do you study the analytics? Do you understand which clients are engaged by which subject lines? What are your top click-thrus? Both Constant Contact and Vertical Response provide stunningly deep metrics that are worth examining. Bonus Tip: Test the time of day you send a blast, measure the open rate based on your subject line and compare the metrics for open rates, click thru rates and open times. Keep in mind that our industry standard for open rates hover near 16%, with click thrus averaging 12%. How do you measure up?
Fan Tip #4: Page Insights
Facebook Page Insights. Once your fan count exceeds 30 you’ll have access to demographics as well as which posts reach the most fans. When studying your Page Insights, re-order the list of your posts by Reach. Study each post to see what time and day it was launched on your Facebook page. Dig deeper into the analytics to look for trends, then put out your next series of posts based on this information. Bonus Tip: Test your strategy over a couple of weeks to see what other patterns emerge.
Fan Tip #5: Timing is everything
Timely.is, WhentoTweet, TweetWhen. Who wants their tweets to fall on deaf ears? These tools give you the chance to reach your followers when they’re listening. Measure your Twitter reach and times of greatest visibility. TweetWhen will also give you stats on when you’re most likely to be re-tweeted. Bonus Tip: Leverage the timing of your live tweets and begin conversations with your followers.
These free tools provide the resources to know more about your fans and potential clients so that you can more easily engage them by providing relevant posts, tweets and pins.
