Building a Business Foundation By Implementing The Five C’s

There certainly is not a shortage of advice, suggestions and recommendations from highly respected consultants and advisors these days. Google “marketing advice” and you will instantly have 298,000,000 websites to research in less than .5 seconds.

Today I want to offer my thoughts on what is important when building a business. There are probably no fewer than 2500 reminders that instantly come to mind, but in an effort to dove-tail this article to the 5-Point Concept of this column, I will limit my input to just five words that begin with the letter “C.”

Clarify. You must clarify the purpose of your business. I am not sure of your specific purpose, but I know it is not to “sell stuff.” Once you adopt a non-selfish purpose to live by, you will find energy to grow your business without apology. Example: To help families make better travel-related decisions when planning their vacations.

Collaborate. You must collaborate with other local proactive business professionals. Your energy and creative spirit will rise and fall with current circumstances. You will need to commiserate with others with like-minded goals and objectives in order to keep yourself balanced, focused and eager to carry on when the sledding gets rough.

Craft. You must craft a marketing message you can believe in. What “exactly” do you want your audience to know, hear and take home with them? You MUST take time to write, edit and internalize the single message you want to share. Call it your Audio Logo; call it your Elevator Speech; call it your 15-Second Marketing Message. Get one, and start spreading the word.

Communicate. You must communicate regularly with your target audience. When you are out of sight you are out of mind. It is your responsibility to remain visible and “top-of-mind” of your defined audience. The Rule of 7 plays a role which infers that to do business with anybody you must plan on connecting with them a minimum of seven times in each 18-month period. This implies that “persistence” rules.

Create. Create a happy environment. Become that “breath of fresh air” everybody is looking for today. People exhibit magnetic tendencies in that they have the power to either repel or attract. Pull people into your world by displaying an upbeat personality with an aura of well-being. A positive, enthusiastic you will serve your clients well. A positive, enthusiastic you will serve you well.

Bonus “C”. Cruise. Take a Cruise. Put your Marketing Plan together by spending six nights with Mike Marchev, CTC, on his 2nd Annual Training Cruise leaving from Ft. Lauderdale on January 11, 2015. Email Mike today to receive complete details for this enormous opportunity. Mike@MikeMarchev.com.
