Please stop for a moment and think about all your FITs, groups, land and cruise vacations all in the works.
Then, think what would happen if suddenly, YOU were taken out of the equation, perhaps for your health or a family emergency.

Here are a few questions to ponder as we discuss “Building a Succession Plan”:
What happens to your business, your clients, your pipeline quotes?
How will your agency finalize trips for your clients who have paid thousands to plan their vacation with you?
Who do you have ready to step in and take over and know exactly where you left off? Would they know where to begin?
Locate an emergency travel advisor back up person.
Do you think it is your spouse/significant other who does not know anything about what you do? A close friend? Your adult children?
Oftentimes, it is not.
What systems do you have in place for that person to make a smooth transition? Can they access to online booking engines, passwords, mail and bank accounts?
Can they process accounts payable/receivables?
Are commissions auto-deposited or hard checks?
Does your agency have IC’s?
What administrative/accounting process do you have for paying out their commissions owed them and future commissions?
Is your office a wreck and disorganized, chaotic and overwhelming? Don’t leave a mess for your back up helper.
How does your helper gain access to your home? Keys? Alarm systems? Pets?
