It is with heavy hearts, The Travel Institute board and team honor the remarkable life and legacy of Arthur C. Tauck Jr., CTC, former president and chairman for Tauck. An industry visionary, he is credited with the global expansion and long-term success of the luxury travel company founded by his father. As a pioneer in the tour industry as well as a steadfast advocate for industry professionalism through education, Arthur also served The Travel Institute as both a trustee and vice chairman, championing the value of high-quality education and industry-wide integrity—ultimately shaping standards that still guide travel professionals today.
“When Arthur walked into a room, every eye and ear turned in his direction so as to not miss a word. He had the unique ability to captivate an audience—of one or a thousand—and make you feel valued,” reflected Rick Baron, CTC, current board member for The Travel Institute and retired managing director, global sales at Tauck. “His passion for this industry never waned,” and “He had an innate ability to simplify the complex and inspire growth in those fortunate enough to work with him,” Baron added.
Over his long and distinguished career, Arthur’s many accomplishments include successfully fighting for tour operators’ rights to function across state lines. A founding member and chairman of Tourism Cares, he is also in the ASTA Hall of Fame and the U.S. Travel Association Hall of Leaders. In 1994, he founded the Tauck Family Foundation as yet another way to “give back.” Our deepest condolences to the Tauck family; Arthur’s dedication to industry success is forever a part of The Travel Institute’s foundation.
