In 1963, an executive committee of travel industry leaders representing a cross section of agency owners, airlines, tour operators and hoteliers met to consider an industry-wide education program to boost professionalism. Based on the committee’s recognition, The Travel Institute (TTI) —originally known as the Institute of Certified Travel Agents (ICTA), was born as an independent, non-profit organization in 1964. Celebrating 60 years, The Travel Institute has supported countless industry professionals in their quest for excellence: training thousands of new agents while further advancing experienced agents through continued education, specialization and certification.
