Alumni Headshot - Shay Sabatino, CTA

Shay Sabatino, CTA – Alumni Spotlight

What inspired you to pursue a career in travel and tourism? Was there a defining moment?

I worked in banking for many years and was ready for a change. My husband was actually the one who gave me the idea to pursue a career in travel when I was planning one of our vacations. I took a huge leap of faith and went for it.

What’s your favorite part about helping others experience the world through travel?

I love being able to take the stress of planning for people. I love to be able to give them ideas and personal experiences that they didn’t think of. Then, when they return, I want to hear all about their trip and see pictures!

What advice would you give to someone just starting their travel industry journey?

It may feel overwhelming but don’t give up! Take in as much as you can and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

How do you stay motivated and inspired in an industry that’s constantly changing?

I love to travel, and my bucket list is always growing so I stay motivated by that. I also never have the same day to day, so it doesn’t get boring. Change is a part of life, so I adapt pretty easily to it.

What’s one place on your travel bucket list that you haven’t crossed off yet?

I want to spend 2 weeks in Italy. I want to start in Venice and travel my way down to see all of the highlights and end in Sicily!
