What inspired you to pursue a career in travel and tourism? Was there a defining moment?
What inspired me to pursue a career in travel and tourism was my deep passion for exploring new cultures and connecting with people from all over the world. Travel has always fascinated me—not just the destinations themselves, but the stories, traditions, and experiences that shape each place.
Experiencing the warmth of the local community and witnessing how travel could create meaningful connections made me realize the powerful impact the tourism industry can have—not only economically but also in fostering understanding and respect among diverse cultures. From that moment, I knew I wanted to be part of an industry that helps people discover the world and bridges cultural gaps.
Can you share a moment in your career when you realized, “This is exactly what I’m meant to do”?
One of the moments that really affirmed for me that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be was when I had the opportunity to plan a voluntourism trip to Croatia for the Lions Club. It combined everything I love about travel advising—crafting meaningful itineraries, connecting people with authentic local experiences, and ensuring the details come together seamlessly—with something much bigger: purpose. Designing a trip to go beyond sightseeing and leisure to create genuine impact, where travelers could contribute to the community and walk away changed themselves, was deeply gratifying. It reminded me that travel isn’t just about where you go, but how it connects you to people and the world—and I knew then that helping others discover those kinds of journeys is exactly what I’m meant to do.
What’s your favorite part about helping others experience the world through travel?
My favorite part about helping others experience the world through travel is seeing the way it transforms them. Travel has this incredible ability to open people’s eyes, shift perspectives, and create connections they never expected—whether it’s with a place, a culture, or even with each other.
What’s one cultural experience that left a lasting impression on you?
One cultural experience that left a lasting impression on me was visiting Croatia. Beyond the breathtaking scenery and rich history, it was deeply personal because my family heritage is from that region. Walking the cobblestone streets, hearing the language, and sharing meals that reminded me of dishes from my own family table gave me an unexpected sense of connection and belonging. It wasn’t just a destination—it felt like rediscovering a piece of myself. That experience reminded me how travel can be so much more than sightseeing; it can be a bridge to our roots and a powerful way to feel connected to the world and our own story.
What’s one place on your travel bucket list that you haven’t crossed off yet?
My travel bucket list is pretty long, but there are three destinations at the very top that I’m especially excited about. The Galápagos Islands, with their incredible biodiversity and untouched landscapes, feel like stepping into a living classroom of nature—I’d love the chance to experience that kind of wonder firsthand. Norway is another, with its dramatic fjords, Northern Lights, and strong culture of outdoor adventure that perfectly matches the way I like to explore. And then there’s Poland, which holds a more personal meaning for me. Its rich history, vibrant cities, and cultural traditions—along with the chance to connect more deeply with my family roots—make it a place I know would be both meaningful and unforgettable.
