What inspired you to pursue a career in travel and tourism? Was there a defining moment?
I have always loved to travel but didn’t get a chance much since my children are 8 years, as one graduated the other is entering Middle School. So I started taking Spring Breaks with my daughter and asking her where she wants to explore. With my son we attend racing events throughout the Midwest, so exploring with him is a little bit different.
So three years ago I researched schooling for Travel Advisors and came across The Travel Institute.
Can you share a moment in your career when you realized, “This is exactly what I’m meant to do”?
I work a full time job with benefits so I wanted to work my travel job part time until I retire. I started with helping my mom and sisters with a London trip and then a co-worker and her family on a cruise. At that moment I knew this is what I want to do when I retire. I want to help friends, family and new clients plan their dream vacation.
How has your journey evolved since graduating from The Travel Institute?
My journey is starting out slowly. I did change Host Agency in 2025, the previous one was not for me and my business. I did complete the CTA course as well in 2025.
I am getting new clients using social media, so it does help to continue posting and engaging with social media.
What’s your favorite part about helping others experience the world through travel?
I get to see their adventures come to life through their eyes as they share photos and stories.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their travel industry journey?
Participate in learning with The Travel Institute. I have seen so many sign up with a Host Agency and there is no background in travel. Learning the business is a way your will be successful in your business.
How do you stay motivated and inspired in an industry that’s constantly changing?
I attend many webinars from suppliers, my host agency and take more classes with the Institute.
