What inspired you to pursue a career in travel and tourism? Was there a defining moment?
I was inspired by travel from a very young age. Growing up in New Jersey, my family made travel a regular part of our lives — trips to the Outer Banks, the West Coast, Ireland (my father’s birthplace), and countless visits to Disney. Those experiences shaped my curiosity about the world and my love for connecting with different places and cultures.
The defining moment came later in life after becoming a mother to my son Dylan, who is autistic. Traveling with him changed the way I saw the industry — not just as vacations, but as meaningful experiences that should be accessible, comfortable, and joyful for everyone. During a Sandals course, I discovered the Certified Autistic Travel Professional (CATP) program, and I realized I could blend my personal journey with my professional passion. That was the moment everything truly aligned.
Can you share a moment in your career when you realized, “This is exactly what I’m meant to do”?
One of those moments came after helping a neurodivergent family take their first successful vacation together. They had been hesitant to travel because of sensory concerns and past difficult experiences. When they returned and told me their trip was the first time they truly felt understood, supported, and relaxed while traveling — I knew I was doing exactly what I was meant to do. It reaffirmed that my role is not just to book trips, but to create confidence, comfort, and memories for families who may have felt overlooked in traditional travel planning.
How has your journey evolved since graduating from The Travel Institute?
Since graduating from The Travel Institute, my journey has grown far beyond what I initially imagined. I founded Paradise Coast Travel, LLC, expanded my expertise through additional certifications (CTA, CATP, and Certified Accessible Travel Associate), and developed a specialty in accessible and neurodivergent-friendly travel.
My business has evolved from general travel planning to a more purpose-driven agency that prioritizes inclusivity, accessibility, and personalized service. I’ve also deepened my knowledge of destinations, cruises, Disney, Florida travel, and the Caribbean — all while staying rooted in my commitment to education and ethical, professional travel advising.
What’s your favorite part about helping others experience the world through travel?
My favorite part is seeing the confidence and joy travel brings to my clients — especially families who may have felt uncertain about traveling before. I love taking the stress out of planning, explaining everything clearly, and making sure my clients feel supported before, during, and after their trip. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing I helped create memories that will last a lifetime.
What’s one cultural experience that left a lasting impression on you?
Visiting Ireland — my father’s birthplace — left a lasting impression on me. Walking through the places my family came from, connecting with the history, and experiencing Irish culture firsthand deepened my appreciation for heritage, storytelling, and how travel connects us to our roots.
What skills from The Travel Institute have made the biggest impact in your career?
The Travel Institute gave me a strong foundation in professionalism, ethics, destination knowledge, and client communication. The emphasis on continuing education and industry credibility has helped me build trust with my clients and partners. It also reinforced the importance of being a knowledgeable, well-trained advisor in an industry where misinformation and scams are unfortunately common.
