What inspired you to pursue a career in travel and tourism? Was there a defining moment?

Travel has always been a passion for my wife and me. As professional ballroom dancers, we’ve spent years traveling across the U.S. for competitions, and those journeys deepened our love for exploring new places and cultures. One evening, we realized that the same joy and seamless travel experiences we seek for ourselves could be something we help others create. That’s when the idea of opening a travel agency was born—a natural extension of both our lifestyle and our passion.

Can you share a moment in your career when you realized, “This is exactly what I’m meant to do”?

I’m at the very beginning of my travel career, so I haven’t yet had that defining “this is it” client moment. But before launching my agency, my wife and I planned a family reunion for ourselves and our parents. Everything came together so smoothly, and seeing how rewarding it was to create a seamless, memorable experience for the people we love gave me a glimpse of what I want to bring to my clients. It confirmed that I’m on the right path

How has your journey evolved since graduating from The Travel Institute?

Since graduating from The Travel Institute, I’ve felt much more confident in my work. Learning the correct terminology and professional standards has given me a stronger foundation, and as someone new to the industry, I was surprised by how many important facts and insights I hadn’t known before. That education has helped me not only speak the language of the travel profession but also serve clients with a deeper level of expertise.

What’s one cultural experience that left a lasting impression on you?

It’s hard to choose just one, since there have been many moments that left a lasting impression. But one that surprised me was during a trip to Dubai that happened to fall during Ramadan. While we were having dinner, we heard the adhan—the call to prayer—echoing through the streets. The power and beauty of those voices were unlike anything I had experienced before. It was moving, otherworldly, and a reminder of how travel immerses you in traditions that touch the soul.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their travel industry journey?

The travel industry is definitely harder than it looks from the outside, so don’t start this journey unless you’re truly passionate about travel and about helping others experience the world. This isn’t about personal perks—it’s about creating meaningful experiences for your clients. My best advice is to invest in your education. The Travel Institute, in particular, opened my eyes to so many resources, best practices, and insights. That knowledge gives you the confidence and foundation you’ll need to succeed.
